In the news story which appeared on Zee news portal last year in January, the petitioner D. Dhaya Devadas claimed that Mr. S Vaikundarajan, Managing Director of VV Minerals, openly admitted at a recent meeting of an Ore Panel, convened by Chemical Allied Products Export Promotion Council (CAPEXIL), that he gave ‘money’ to officials of Environment and Forest Ministry and obtained the environment clearance for beach sand mining in Tuticorin District.
But this claim is proven false, in some news articles published at later dates, for example, the Business Standard article suggest that there were no evidences found in the mining activities of VV Minerals, India. Also, there were no evidences found to prove that Mr. S. Vaikundarajan was involved in or had stated any kind of bribery or illegal mining activities.
